Sometimes, people who are “serious” about food will dismiss American cuisine. They’ll say it’s not good enough to be counted among the greats, such as French, Italian, or Japanese food. At Pica’s Pub & Grill, we couldn’t disagree more. American food may not be as fancy or extravagant as the offerings of other countries and cultures, but we still think it deserves a place among the top cuisines. We’re so confident in our cooking that we’ll even go so far as to say it deserves the top spot.
We don’t see the point in downplaying American food. In fact, we think these three meals actually prove it’s the best.
NY Strip Steak
We don’t believe in saving the best for last, so let’s start with a heavy hitter. Is there anything better than a beautiful cut of steak cooked to perfection? We’re struggling to come up with something. Our steak is perfectly seasoned and seared, then topped with garlic-herb butter. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it. And, honestly, what’s more American than steak?
Gourmet Burgers
If anything is more American than steak, it might be hamburgers. But we’re not talking about sad, think patties on a tasteless roll that got squished in the bag. We’re talking about ground chuck on a brioche bun or hearty roll, topped with high-quality cheese, flavorful sauces, and crisp, fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Paired with a side of fries or home-made potato chips, a gourmet burger is the absolute pinnacle of American casual dining.
Meatball Subs
Although we owe the combination of meatballs and marinara sauce to our Italian ancestors, the meatball sub is truly an American creation. Italian immigrants brought the staples of their homeland to America and, with the help of neighboring immigrant communities, turned them into something new. It’s our favorite example of the Great American Melting Pot.
